Paralympic Handover day was celebrated at K2 Crawley, to mark the end of the Beijing Paralympics and the countdown to the London Games.
K2 is the only venue in West Sussex to have been chosen as a potential training camp for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.
Councillor Beryl MeCrow, Cabinet member for Leisure and Culture, and Councillor Duncan Crow, Deputy Leader of Crawley Borough Council, attended the celebration with students from Manor Green College in Ifield.
Councillor MeCrow said: “I was asked by residents what Crawley would do to celebrate the Paralympic handover and was keen to mark the event, especially as K2 could be a pre-Paralympics training camp.
“To attract high profile teams to K2 for the Olympics and Paralympics in 2012 will be hugely prestigious for the town.”
