West Sussex events to feature former Olympians and Paralympians, and 2012 hopefuls.
Over twenty FREE events are taking place from Friday July 24 to Sunday July 26, as part of London 2012 Open Weekend – a national celebration marking the three-year countdown to the 2012 Games.
Events at leisure centres will feature the chance to meet former Olympians and Paralympians with strong connections to West Sussex, as well as some of our 2012 hopefuls.
Sascha Kindred OBE, six-times Paralympic Games gold medalist swimmer will be at K2 Crawley, Pavilions in the Park Horsham, Steyning Leisure Centre, and The Aquarena, Worthing – come and meet Sascha and his medals!
Ben Quilter, a Paralympian and four-times European medallist in Judo, will be at Worthing Leisure Centre and Olympos Burgess Hill – find out about his preparations for 2012.
Nick Buckfield from Crawley was Britain’s top pole vaulter and two-time Olympic athlete – find out his Olympic stories at Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre, and Olympos Burgess Hill.
Mark Hawkins from Horsham, training full-time for the London 2012 Olympics handball event, will be at Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre.
Leah DeHaan, Great Britain Women’s Basketball U20 player, and Alex McGrory, Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball player, will be at Worthing Leisure Centre with players from the Worthing Thunder Basketball Club – a treat for all basketball fans!
