Volunteers will be vital to the success of the London 2012 Games.
Around 70,000 will be needed in a huge variety of roles. Applications for the London 2012 volunteer programme will open in 2010, but you can register your interest now at: London 2012 - over 3,000 West Sussex residents have already taken this step!
The London 2012 organisers hope that the volunteering spirit will spread wider than the Games themselves, and everyone is being encouraged to give their time to help others if they can. There are lots of opportunities to get involved in volunteering in West Sussex – one of the best starting points is to contact the volunteer centre in your area. Many sports clubs in West Sussex are looking for more people to help, and the Ahead of the Game cultural programme will be recruiting `creative producers` in local communities, to help lead and support arts and cultural activities in the lead up to 2012.
