Ensuring everyone in West Sussex benefits...

Education & Skills

Childrens FacesYoung people were at the heart of London’s bid to host the 2012 Games, and lots of activities involving young people are underway, as we build-up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Much of the initial focus is through the official London 2012 education programme Get Set. Young people are at the centre of the programme, and over 90 West Sussex schools have already registered and are taking part.

Running in parallel with the education programme is a strong focus on skills. The London 2012 Games will be one of the largest events ever held in the UK, and many of the skills needed for the Games’ success will come from people who live in the South East.

Our activities include Personal Best, the London 2012 pre-employment programme taking place at Worthing Football Club through Albion in the Community, and Young Enterprise's Sports Masterclasses, rolling-out in a number of secondary schools in March next year.

The GO-Learn toolkit (645kb) is a new resource commissioned by the South East group overseeing skills activities, to stimulate learning linked to the motivation of the Games.
